"Shell" is one of the objects left by the public at the exhibition Radical Ideas About Love, a solo show by Panmela Castro, held in 2024 at the Rio Art Museum. This object is part of the Affective Objects series, in which the artist invites the public to deposit objects that carry a fragment of their personal history, transforming them into sculptures. What was once a memory of intimate experiences, full of affection, loss and reunion, becomes sculptures that time will not erase. Created in 2023, “Affective Objects” proposes not only a form of material re-signification, but also a symbolic space of belonging and connection.
