Curated by Flávia Carmagnanis and Patrícia Chiavazzoli, the Cultural Department of UERJ's Dean of Extension and Culture proposes the exhibition "Corpos Insurgentes" (Insurgent Bodies).
The exhibition features recent productions by contemporary Brazilian artists who articulate political issues and use the female body as a support or main theme. The body as a place of memory, as a political tool, as a mutant movement, against the idea of a fixed "nature". The works presented engage with feminist issues from a decolonial perspective, taking into account the possible relationships between art and activism and knowing that the category of woman requires a plural understanding.
